The Great War is the latest adaptation of Richard Borg’s tried and tested Command and Colours game system bringing the epic battles of the First World War to the gaming table. Players can command armies of detailed miniature figures representing British and German troops of the time. The naval rules for War and Peace are an utter joke, written on the bus whilst the game was on route to the printers. The same can be said for most of the campaign game rules. I will try to dig out my copy and respond, but it will be this evening by when you may have an answer from another geek.

Rules of War is a non-stop rollercoaster ride of great action scenes from beginning to end. I think the only thing that holds the Logan West series from being as big as others in the genre is the dialogue could be better, and the main character, Logan West, is less interesting than supporting characters like John Quick and Amira Cerrone.

The cover of RULES OF WAR wonderfully and accurately sums up its mood. We see a soldier hanging from a helicopter rappel line in the middle of a group of tall buildings as smoke, ash, fire and debris appear from all corners. While it mirrors one scene in the book, the pages are full of them, as former marine Logan West leaps across a seemingly.
One of my favorite books this year is Sean McFate’s The New Rules of War: Victory in the Age of Durable Disorder. Sean challenges everything I’ve learned over the last 15 years, and I can’t help but wonder if he’s right. I had a chance to catch up with him and ask about his new book, the future of war, and professional development.
